Letterbox and entrance to The Peninsula

Close to everything and yet secluded – a hidden gem
The Peninsula is a short drive down the quiet, no-exit country road on Hoddy Peninsula.

Hoddy Peninsula is one of several small peninsulas that extend into the Waimea Estuary.

The Peninsula is located on the tidal Waimea Estuary which is the largest estuary in the South Island at over 3,000 hectares in area.

The Waimea Estuary is recognised as internationally important for wader bird species, and it supports a huge diversity of bird life. The Peninsula is within 5 minutes drive of Rabbit Island, an Island which separates the Waimea Estuary from Tasman Bay. The ocean side of the Island provides over 8 km of beautiful clean sandy beach and is popular for walking and swimming. The Peninsula is surrounded by orchards, vineyards; artist’s studio’s and farms.
